Hong Kong Disneyland

Just like most moms out there, I am responsible for introducing my kids to the wonderful world of Disney. They love everything about Disney. We have Disney channel, toon disney, Playhouse Disney, and these channels have seemed to gain exclusivity in our homes as the only authorized channel to be played during day time as per the order of the little bosses.

Having this in mind, hubby and me have decided to give the children a treat on our last vacation by taking them to Hong Kong Disneyland. The trip from Dubai to Hong Kong was smooth and uneventful, plane arrived on time. Since Disneyland is located on lantau island, we had the opportunity to take a glimpse of the mountainside, nice view and truly welcoming.

Upon arrival at the Disney Hollywood Hotel, we were greeted by a really friendly staff, with the kind of hospitality only Asians can do...corporate yet sincere. We were escorted to our room where we had a spectacular view of the garden and where the famous disney fireworks display can be seen. The hotel was nice, amenities were amazing. It's only downside is the food service. Except for Chef Mickey, which offers a truly amazing buffet (the kind that I still haven't forgotten till now), the rest are only snack areas and bar that opens only on particular times leaving guests like us, who arrive too late for lunch and too early for dinner, nevertheless starving considering that we have just completed an 8-hour flight. All these, however were compensated by the dinner we had at the Lotus restaurant in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Amazing Chinese foods, am still searching for a restaurant in Dubai that could offer similar quality.

The first day was basically spent drawing our prints on Hollywood Boulevard where the children and those young at heart got the chance to trace their favorite disney characters on the floor and color them according to their preference. I think I did a really lousy job on that one, considering how terrible I am with regards to art. We then decided to go swimming at the piano pool, after shopping for some swimsuits and stuffed toys at the nearest souvenir shop.

The second day was really fun since it was basically spent at the Hong Kong Disneyland Park itself. As expected we spent the days taking pictures of our favorite characters. Carmela loved winnie the pooh so much that she kept on kissing his nose and don't wanna be separatated from him anymore. We rode the train, and got a nice view of the whole park itself. We saw Tarzan in his tree house. Angela even complained to the security why no one is attending to baby Tarzan when everyone can hear that he was crying. Breakfast was not so amazing but wasn't so bad either. I believe the park serves only fast foods, so that explains it.

Hong Kong is a lovely place. It truly is. The Hotel Service was satisfactory, and priced really low compared to hotels in Dubai. Softdrinks and bottled water prices are completely ridiculous, though. I mean I can buy 3 bottled water in Dubai at the price of 1 in Hong Kong. Yet again, we had fun, lots of them and that's all that matters.
